The Pfunky Griddle is a family friendly restaurant that provides an experience where the customers are the cooks. No need to go to the store and buy all the ingredients to make breakfast at home, no preparing pancake batter, and best of all no cleaning up. The Pfunky Griddle does all the prep and clean up and leaves the fun stuff to you!
This not just a place to eat breakfast, brunch and lunch. It’s destination for food, fun and fellowship. Each table gets a carafe of organic five-grain batter as well as regular pancake batter. A gluten-free option is available, too. First, you grease up the grill with vegetable spray. Then you pour on the thin batter and wait for the bubbles to appear before you flip your pancake. You also cook up eggs, French toast and potato pancakes the same way. If you don’t feel like cooking or breakfast the lunch menu is on the other side. There’s also a wide selection of gourmet coffee bar beverages.

Sandwiches and wraps to choose from include the Gorgonzola and Black Forest ham Panini, roast beef melt, Island Breeze (chicken salad), Smokin’ Turkey BLT, California turkey, blue cheese and roast beef wrap, chicken Caesar wrap, among others. Sandwiches and wraps are served with your choice of pasta salad, fruit, chips, soup and salad.
Green salads are also served. Choices include strawberry feta, traditional chef, Caesar, along with fruit salad. Get a soup and salad combo, too. Salads are served with your choice of homemade dressings.
The original restaurant was opened as a collaboration between owner Matthew Pfuntner’s grandparents and his mother. His grandfather made the tables in the first location, with a stainless steel griddle built right in. Unlike traditional pancake houses, the Pfunky Griddle offers guests a fun, family-oriented experience. It’s also very inexpensive, perfect for families watching their budget.
Almost as soon as the restaurants were his, he started offering gluten-free batter for the pancakes, as well as gluten-free toppings, sandwiches, and French toast. At that time, the wheat free diet was more of a fad and customers were requesting it. Two or so years later, Celiac disease started to flood health media. They have separate mixers and pitchers [for maintain gluten-free separation]. They also make it in small batches.
In addition to separate mixers and pitchers for gluten-avoiding patrons, they also provide a Tephlon pan to put on the table grills so there’s no cross contamination. The same batter they use for Celiac or gluten abstaining customers is also used for other food allergies. “It’s a vegan base. Since its mixed right then, we can use soy or almond milk [for dairy avoiders] or whatever you need,” Pfuntner stated.
